Finally, the first post (of many, I hope)

by Brian Carroll on March 26, 2012

After departing the continental United States just a hair under a month ago, I'm proud to be releasing my first post!   As it's 12:30am out here and I'm facing a 6am wake-up call for a ferry ride, I'm going to keep this one short(er) and sweet through a question and answer format (the questions were asked by my readers to date, i.e. Me). Q: Wait, what are you writing about? A: Well, after a significant amount of time pondering the idea of extended travel, in Feb 2012, I officially took steps to make that vision a reality, and as such I am writing this from Wellington, New Zealand right now.  A fair amount of my writings will be pretty straight-forward in nature: where I travel and what I do there.  Beyond that, really anything - what I learn throughout this process about myself/others, valuable tips I pick along the way, my varied goals as part of this journey (sharing with you all to try and hold myself accountable) and really any sorts of things in daily life that often get overlooked in the hustle and bustle of daily life- something I know I'm guilty of quite often.  That and more. Q: Where are you traveling and for how long? A: Well, I have a general sense of things but to be honest, I already see my plans changing and is thus why I kept my itinerary open-ended.  I can say for sure Hawaii, Australia and New Zealand...as those are already places I've set foot on to-date in this trip.  Beyond that, I don't know.  And for how long?  Well, anywhere from 4 months+ right now. Q: That is a pretty iconic logo, did you design that? A: Oh stop, you're too kind...(but, yeah, its pretty sweet). That is, unless any of you graphic design experts want to take a stab at it (cough, cough, hint...), and give it your best shot.  Otherwise, the stick-figure backpacker is what you'll have to deal with for the foreseeable future until I have more time. Q: What is a Buchko doppelgänger and how do I support this cause? A: A mighty good question and something many of us, unbeknownst to, have come across.  Stay tuned. Q: It's nice to see you got of your lazy bum and finally posted something but seriously, when is a real post coming? A: 24 hours.  First one coming from Hawaii.
