On the Road, Part Deux – First stop Peru

by Brian Carroll on October 12, 2012

After a couple month hiatus enjoying the summer in Southern CA and taking a chance to regroup, I hopped on a plane two days ago headed to South America for a jaunt of at least five weeks taking me through Peru, Argentina, Uruguay and Brazil. Just in my first few days here I can tell this go around is going to be slightly different.  Whereas Australia, New Zealand and the likes afforded me ease in communication and comfort, within a day of being in South America, I could tell my senses were elevated related to my surroundings and I'd be challenged in different ways - mainly due to my unavoidable "gringoness" and unpolished spanish of late (though 7 years of spanish should help me swing it*). *I must say though, in just the first few days, I have enjoyed the challenge of speaking in another language and how it awakens the mind in a unique way. Until next time, adios!
